Tommy Robinson creates new YouTube channel, flouting ban

Tommy Robinson has created a new YouTube channel – flouting restrictions imposed on the far-right figure last year.

Posting on far-right haven Telegram, the ex-EDL leader said he had established a new YouTube channel, under the banner of his “news” platform, TR News.

In April 2019, YouTube told Buzzfeed that it had removed clips uploaded by Robinson and blocked him from streaming live events via the site.

This meant that his channel was unsearchable, and people could only find his videos by clicking a direct link to them.

A few months later, in July, the platform then banned Robinson entirely for breaching its hate speech policy. This came after the far-right figure filmed a video outside the Old Bailey, just before he was sentenced for contempt of court.

Robinson has also been banned from Twitter and Facebook for violating their hate speech policies, and PayPal has stopped processing payments on his behalf.

But the far-right figure is seemingly trying to worm his way back online by making a new channel which has already amassed 2,000 subscribers.

His old channel had some 390,000 subscribers. Let’s hope YouTube steps in before his new channel achieves the same prominence.

We write news that exposes the deception of populism and the hypocrisy of the elites who peddle it. We run campaigns that allow us to work together to fight back.

We hate Brexit. We hate Boris. We hate the far-right. We want climate action, the end of austerity, and a pro-European future.

Press for change.
