Keir Starmer well ahead in Labour leadership race, says new poll

Sir Keir Starmer is comfortably ahead in the Labour leadership race, according to new polling by YouGov.

The poll, released yesterday evening, suggests that Starmer would beat his closest rival Rebecca Long-Bailey in the final round of voting by 63% to 37%.

According to the latest poll, the Holborn and St Pancras MP would gain 46% of the vote in the first round of voting, with Long-Bailey on 32%, Jess Phillips on 11%, Lisa Nandy on 7% and Emily Thornberry on 3%.

  1. Did YouGov poll only Labour Party membership, if so how could it be so different to Momentum’s poll? YouGov are trying to sway support to the centre ground.
