“Tinpot dictator”: Boris slammed for making Channel 4 threat after being replaced in climate debate with ice sculpture

Can you spot a Tory election lie?

Take the Lie Detector

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been slammed for suggesting that Channel 4’s broadcasting status should be reviewed, after they decided to replace the PM with an ice sculpture in this evening’s climate change debate.

Indeed, Johnson has refused to take part in the Channel 4 debate about our climate emergency, and will subsequently be replaced on stage with a melting ice sculpture.

In response, a Conservative source (wonder who), told BuzzFeed’s Alex Wickham that the party will re-assess the broadcaster’s public service license. The source said:

“If we are re-elected we will have to review Channel 4’s Public Services Broadcasting obligations,” adding:

“Broadcasting organisations are rightly held to a higher standard — and particularly Channel 4 which has a special role enshrined in legislation. Any review would of course look at whether its remit should be better focused so it is serving the public in the best way possible.”

However, this threat has backfired quite spectacularly online, with people suggesting that Boris is throwing his weight around like a power-crazed dictator.

Nigel Farage will also be replaced in the debate by an ice sculpture, but no-one gives a sh*t what he thinks about the stunt.
