Brexiteer journalist defends Robert Mugabe, compares him to Boris Johnson

A leading pro-Brexit journalist has launched a bizarre defence of former Zimbabwe dictator Robert Mugabe.

Reacting to the news this morning that Mugabe has passed away, Quentin Letts praised the former strongman for bringing about independence in Zimbabwe – comparing his efforts to those of Boris Johnson.

Needless to say, Letts, who writes for The Times, is already being torn to shreds on social media, with comedian David Schneider coming up with one of the best responses:

In a week filled with astoundingly bad opinions from Brexiteers, this has to go down as one of the worst.
